Ingrid Cowan, Mezzo-Soprano

Ole Hass, Tenor

This husband and wife singing team has been charming audiences in Europe and America since they joined forces as students in Germany, performing regularly in recitals on both sides of the Atlantic. In addition to their solo appearances in opera, oratorio and recital, they have achieved an impressive résumé of joint performances:

Together, they starred as Périchole and Paquillo in the Washington Savoyards' critically acclaimed production of Offenbach’s three-act operetta, La Périchole in November 2004. They have shared the opera stage as soloists in repertory ranging from Mozart's Die Zauberflöte with the avantgarde company The In-Series, to the world premiere of Garrison Hull's Nancy with Opera Theatre of Northern Virginia. Cowan and Hass appeared as the alto and tenor soloists in the Kennedy Center’s annual Messiah Sing-along, as well as in Robert Schumann's oratorio, Paradise and the Peri, performed by the New Dominion Chorale at Schlesinger Hall. They were the featured soloists with the Washington Sängerbund at the Austrian Embassy. In 2003, Cowan and Hass co-founded the Vocal Soloists of Washington (www.vocalsoloists.org), a group of singers and pianists dedicated to the celebration of art song and poetry. Other venues include the Washington National Cathedral, the German and Indonesian Embassies, the recital series at Epiphany Church of Washington and the DACOR house, as well as the Moscow Conservatory.
